day two | philadelphia

Second day (Friday) with the Schmidt family was a day in Philadelphia. We toured Independence Hall in the morning, looked at the Liberty Bell, and hopped onto one of the sightseeing tour buses. What a great way to see the city. We stopped at the Reading Terminal for lunch and that was quite an experience.

Elreth’s Alley is the nation’s oldest residential street. Its a charming row of homes that are still inhabited today. The following few pictures are from our time in the alley. At the very end was a set of twins selling lemonade.

Outside the Reading Terminal were a group of men playing “instruments” (drumsticks on the ground, bucket as a drum, etc.) I love the guy on the very end who stared at me the entire time I was taking their pictures.

My handsome husband who is celebrating a birthday today!

I found this vespa and wall. I loved the bright colors of the wall and the vespa.

Coming up next: Time at Halo Farms and celebrating birthdays

First, Happy b-day to your hubby! Hope he had a great day!

Second, I think we HAD to have passed each other! I had a shoot and used the very same vespa and blue wall by Elfreth’s alley…so cool!

Third, how was the market? So glad you stopped by! It is definitely something that needs to be experienced in Philly…all of the craziness and food is fabulous!

Rebecca - July 21, 2009 - 12:33 am

Happy birthday Anthony!

Becky - July 22, 2009 - 7:41 am

Love the alley photos…and of course I look the vespa and blue wall. Great bday photo too.

It looks like you had a great trip! I LOVE the first two taken in Elreth’s Alley. Beautiful!

Constance Elyse Photography - August 1, 2009 - 12:19 pm

You did a beautiful job of capturing different aspects of the city.

day one | princeton area photographer

On Thursday, we did some sight-seeing around Princeton. Starting at Princeton Seminary, we got a private presentation on old bibles from the Special Collections. Ken brought out a lectern that dates back to the 10th or 11th century. It was amazing to see it in the great condition it is. We also walked around Palmer Square and then heading over to Princeton University. We checked out the chapel and other buildings. I then cooked dinner for the first time in our new place. It will definitely take some getting use to the small spaces and the issue of water not boiling in a proper time frame. I was lucky that the pork tenderloin was just right and all the fixin’s were too!

Here is Anthony, Taylor, and Noah in the Main Lounge of Mackay Campus Center, PTS

Old Bibles

Love this Kopp’s Bicycle Sign. Mainly because the two wheels that are here have been there for years. They are intertwined and everything.

Up next, our day in Philadelphia. We are taking it easy today and then hitting it hard again tomorrow with NYC. Stay tuned all week for pictures!

new place | princeton area photographer

Like I mentioned in the 5 on Friday post last week, we moved into seminary housing. I took a few pictures of the move-in as well as how its pretty much set up currently. There are a few odds & ends we need to figure out but its almost complete. Anthony and my mother pushed through on Saturday and got all the boxes unpacked and everyone hung on the walls. I was beyond impressed with how quickly it came together. Last year when we moved up here it took us 4 days. We beat that by 2 days this time. Complete in 2 days, can you believe it?!?!? We did do a little painting in the bedrooms, makes it feel so much more homey!

We have a huge sofa and it had to come through the sliding glass doors. Here are the movers getting it up.

My little garden on the patio.

Living room

We have ordered bookcases from Ikea that will be delivered on Saturday that will actually go on this wall. It will be nice for Anthony since he has so many books.

That’s my bookcase, desk, and dining room.

Oh Kim! Everything looks perfect! Your new place looks great and you certainly did a great job decorating!!

Five on Friday

1. This post comes in the midst of our packing and moving. We have lived in NJ for almost a year and its now time to switch things up a bit and move apartments! We are actually going into seminary housing closer to campus. I hate having to leave the place we have now because there is a nice workout facility and pool. Trading that for the community at CRW though.

2. There are tons of corn fields around us. The other night we were driving and saw the entire fields covered in lighting bugs/fireflies/whatever you call them. It was one of the neatest things either one of us had ever seen. I really want to get out there and take a picture. Sure enough the tripod is already packed.

3. I have a mild obsession with Rob Thomas. It started right after he released his first solo album, Something to Be in 2005. I just got his new album, Cradlesong, this week and I’m more in love! I recently started following him on twitter and he seems very down to earth.

4. I received several orders from my lab this week. I must say that I LOVE when a client orders an image large (we are talking 20×24!). There is nothing like seeing your work displayed in such a way. They have a gorgeous home and that image will fit right in with their decor. If you are wavering on what size to get, my philosophy is the bigger the better. You really won’t regret it!

5. Next week my in-law family is coming into town for 5 days. We have plans to visit NYC (seeing Lion King on Broadway), Philadelphia, the seminary campus, Princeton, and possibly the shore. We are both excited to share our new area with them.

And a fireworks picture from last Thursday. It was really cool that the fireworks were right were the moon was shining. Pretty cool.

blueberry bash @ terhune orchards | princeton photographer

Last Saturday Terhune Orchards held their annual Blueberry Bash. Anthony and I ventured over there to visit the orchard, get some pictures and fresh produce. We ended up not picking any blueberries, but I did get some phenomenal empire apples in their store (which empire is my favorite apple) as well as green beans, zucchini and more.

Clockwise: Raspberry, blueberries, blueberry trees, unripped blackberries, and some apples.

I felt like these needed a vintage processing.

LOVE their husband & wife scarecrows.

nephews | princeton family photographer

While visiting Oklahoma last week, Anthony and I finally met our newest nephew Rylan. He was born in January, right after the holidays. Here are a few photos from my mom’s (aka Sassy) birthday shindig at their home.

Introducing Rylan James, 5 months

Randon Mark, 2 1/2 years old

I love his expression. He loves this bouncing tigger and the joy in his face when he made tigger bounce was electric. He also helped ice Sassy’s birthday cake.

Grandpa and Rylan

Proud Grandpa (also love the look Rylan is giving Randon!)

Playing with the waterhose. Randon is obsessed with this, fortunately he isn’t strong enough to actually hold down the button so we didn’t all get wet. You can also see my parents beautiful backyard. My mom has worked hard to get it looking gorgeous.
